Hey there, i just read the three chapters of Basic Boy. i love your use of language and chapter 2 took me back to the 80’s . You’ve really captured the voice of teenagers, I will buy the rest and see if my 14yr boy likes it. Good luck

I bought the book yesterday, now the challenge, to get my “reluctant reader” son to read. If he likes it you know your onto a winner and I’ll let you know. I’ll probably read it first though 🙂

My friend had one (I had an Oric, being the contrary sort), and we spent many happy hours playing games on it. Graphically most of those games were pretty primitive by today’s standards, and yet I think some would hold up quite well even now. And computers seemed really special then – partly due to the novelty value I think, plus the fact that it took so long to load anything that you felt you had to really make the most of it. These days, there is so much at our fingertips it’s impossible to fully appreciate it all; and also computers are now primarily work and productivity tools for most people. So even though they’re exponentially more powerful, it’s somehow hard to get so excited about them.
And yes, I realise all that makes me sound really old …
